WP2 — User requirement and case study definition (3DS)
WP2 aims to:
Define required data to develop decision-making tools for risk identification, automation, and costing for EoL batteries.
Identify needs and requirements of users for 2nd and 3rd life applications.
Collect technical requirements for an ideal way of recycling.
Analyse requirements for the development of a useful battery passport.
Establish the design of the disassembly process.
WP3 — Collection and reverse logistics phase standardization and risk management (CEA)
WP3 aims to:
Identify uncertainties and assess the current collection and reverse logistics phase of defective/damaged and EoL batteries.
Improve preliminary battery diagnostic processes at the collection phase.
Develop methods for sensing, monitoring, and prevention of transportation risks.
Integrate these technologies on a cutting-edge container model for reverse logistics and upgrade its monitoring and safety.
WP4 — Battery assessment phase standardization and risk management (ITE)
WP4 aims to:
Identify uncertainties and evaluate the current assessment phase for EoL batteries.
Develop a battery diagnostics tool to be performed to pack and module level.
Develop technologies for fast and efficient discharge of used batteries.
Design a new traceability system along the battery value chain and create an innovative battery passport.
Define the standardization of EoL battery assessment and discharge processes.
WP5 — Disassembly process automatization and evaluation (COM)
WP5 aims to:
Assess dismantling safety procedures and standardization.
Develop automated disassembly processes of EoL battery packs with different shapes and types, focusing on pack-to-module, module-to-cell, and cell-to-electrode disassembly.
Evaluate and develop a simulation of a fully automated large-scale disassembly processing.
Reassemble battery packs with desired parameters for 2nd life applications.
WP6 — Process living lab demonstration, and traceability assessment (ABEE)
WP6 aims to:
Establish a testing, monitoring, and assessment framework.
Test and demonstrate collection and reverse logistics of EoL batteries.
Install and deploy the prototypes developed in previous WPs in ABEE's centralized living lab.
Demonstrate through exhaustive testing the EoL batteries management phases at a relevant environment in the living lab.
Validate reassembled 2nd and 3rd life battery packs and prepared EoL cells/electrodes for recycling based on defined user requirement.
Assess and validate the new traceability system.
WP7 — Sustainability and Circular business modelling (INE)
WP7 aims to:
Map and define the circular battery value chain.
Create innovative sustainable circular business models for 2nd and 3rd life batteries.
Ensure environmentally and socio-economically viable and sustainable system development through comprehensive LCA and LCC studies.
Demonstrate the application potential of the Circular Economy Action Plan to battery systems for increased systemic performance.
WP8 — Impact maximisation: Communication, Dissemination, Exploitation (LUT)
WP8 aims at engaging the most relevant stakeholders. Precisely to:
Communicate project brand, creating visibility and reaching multiple audiences.
Disseminate project results to targeted stakeholders and scientific community.
Foster cooperation with relevant initiatives at EU, national and regional levels.
Ensure the uptake of project innovations and exploitation of REINFORCE results.
Establish clear IP strategies to preserve the ownership of the foreground generated.
Increase the general understanding on the sustainable circular value chain for EoL batteries.
